CSC Leon One Step Closer to Finding an FRC Partner
|
On Monday afternoon, November 13, the Children’s Services Council of Leon County (CSC Leon) ITN Evaluation Team reviewed in detail the submitted responses to the Family Resource Center (FRC) Management ITN. After lengthy discussion and review of the scoring criteria, the Team voted to advance two proposals forward: (1) Whole Child Leon and (2) Children’s Home Society of Florida. The Negotiation Team immediately commenced negotiations with each of the Vendors advancing forward. It is expected that the results will be discussed at the ITN Public Meeting on Tuesday, December 12.

Boys & Girls Club of the Big Bend Receives Recognition
|
On November 14, our team joined the Boys & Girls Club of the Big Bend for a Proclamation presentation at the Leon County Commission meeting.
Commissioner Christian Caban recognized Mr. Kacy Dennis and two dozen students to celebrate our shared commitment to serve the Fort Braden community, children and families through the creation of a permanent after-school mentoring program. The program is made possible through CSC Leon funding and in-kind space from Leon County.

Leon County's Ninth Children's Summit seeks to expand and connect services for kids and their families
|
More than 200 people involved with improving the lives of Leon County’s kids and their families attended the community’s Ninth Annual Children’s Summit at the Turnbull Center on Wednesday, Nov. 29. A focus of the event was better collaboration and cooperation among the area’s various government and non-profit resources.

Family Day at Railroad Square was a a vibrant and engaging event, offering a diverse range of attractions and activities to ensure a memorable day for attendees of all ages. Held for the third year on the day after Thanksgiving, this is a day of family fun, entertainment, and togetherness, featuring free family portraits, live entertainment, and delectable food trucks.

ICYMI: 'A testament that it works': Parents laud CSC-funded summer programs in survey
|
More than 500 parents who enrolled their children in summer programs funded by the Children's Services Council rated the services as favorable, according to survey results released this month. In addition, nearly half report saving more than $800 on childcare, food, and summer camp fees thanks to the CSC Leon- funded programs.

Girls Circle is a weekly program for girls offered by the Oasis Center for Women and Girls at several middle and high schools. They use a research proven effective curriculum designed to increase positive connection, recognition of personal and collective strengths, and social-emotional competence.

Child-Care Assistance for ALICE Population
|
Funding from Children's Services Council Leon County (CSC) has allowed the Early Learning Coalition of the Big Bend Region, Inc. (ELC) to expand eligibility for Florida's School Readiness Program (SR). Now, even more families can receive financial assistance to help their children aged 0-12 receive quality child care while caregivers work, attend school, or participate in job training.
